Basic Concept
What is Self & Match?
Self & Match is a behavioral self-monitoring system designed to help students take ownership of their actions while allowing users to track and support positive behaviors. It combines student self-monitoring with matcher evaluation, and promotes accountability, reflection, and consistency in behavior.
- 1Students rate their own behavior during specific time blocks using predefined questions.
- 2Matchers later review and "match" or "no match" those responses based on actual behavior.
- 3The goal is to reinforce self-awareness and honesty, while giving the team valuable data.
Why it's useful
Helps students build self-regulation and reflective thinking, supports classroom management by promoting positive behaviors, and works in both device-enabled and paper-based classrooms.

What Makes the Self & Match System So Successful?
The Self & Match System is a user-friendly system designed to promote behavioral success by teaching self-monitoring. By teaching practical ways to engage in positive actions, our system helps individuals — whether students or clients — achieve behavioral, social, and academic success.
Our evidence-based system of self-monitoring with an embedded accountability partner is used by educators, therapists, and parents in a variety of settings to enhance skills, foster positive change, boost independence, and uplift lives.
Self & Match Manual
The Manual describes how the Self & Match System works and serves as a compass for navigating the collaborative setup process. Its comprehensive guides and practical tips are grounded in the theory behind self-monitoring.
Self & Match Forms
The forms are the core of the system — built to serve as a dynamic tool that changes as behavior evolves and improves over time. Numerous sample forms are available in print and digital versions.
Workshops & Ongoing Support
A menu of virtual and in-person workshops extends the Manual so implementers can optimize their results. Attendees take part in interactive sessions and receive hands-on instruction.
