A Rainbow Of Lessons

A Rainbow of Lessons we've learned along the way, as parents of a young adult with autism:

The benefits of using the Science of Applied Behavior Analysis to teach life-long skills.
Lesson learned.

Switching my daughter to a function-based curriculum and much needed life skills instead of continuing to work on academics with her that are never going to be used post-high school.
Lesson learned.

Accepting that sometimes my daughter with autism is sad or mad and that she is allowed to feel that way, as are we all.
Lesson learned.

Withdrawing myself from society and extended family and friends and holding grudges for insensitive things said instead of using the opportunity as a time to listen and share with others.
Lesson learned.

Everyone is doing their best. Always look for the "positive"!
Lesson learned.

Worrying does not fix things; it needs to trigger action.
Lesson learned.

Sometimes some really good things come out of struggles and pain.
Lesson learned.
